"In recent years, the significance of gender equality in fostering the well-being and progress of societies has gained prominence. Acknowledged as a fundamental component of the United Nations Development Programme's Sustainable Development Goals, the drive for gender equality and women's empowerment has become increasingly imperative. This commitment revolves around ensuring equal rights, opportunities, and resource access for women, thereby empowering them to exercise autonomy and control over their lives. The impact of empowered women extends to economic growth, social advancement, and sustainable development, as they actively engage in decision-making, education, healthcare, and leadership roles. Through women's empowerment, we aim to cultivate a society that is more balanced and diverse, where women's voices resonate, their talents are duly acknowledged, and their full potential is realized. This concerted effort is a crucial stride towards establishing a world that is both equitable and harmonious for all, including the community of Durgapur Sundram."
"Durgapur Sundaram NGO's women empowerment initiative, Swabhiman, was established in 2005 to reach marginalized and socially-excluded women in the community. The program focuses on interventions in nutrition, healthcare, and livelihood, capacitating women through innovative community practices. It empowers women to actively pursue healthcare, bring about sustainable changes in the community, and supports them in becoming aware, skilled, and financially independent. Swabhiman also actively engages men and boys in the mission to create a gender-equal society, encouraging their participation in the process of women's empowerment."
