My name is Shyamoli Das, I am from Durgapur itself. I am associated with Durgapur Sundaram from 2006. I registered for training course from the owner of Durgapur Sundaram. On seeing my good work, I was given a post in the NGO afterwards. I am working as a trainer in the NGO. My area of expertise is across the large spectrum of jam, jelly, pickle, squash, agarbattis, phenyl, zardousi, kantha stitch, fabric. I train women in these fields. This NGO has also helped me with my current position of being a beautician and make-up artist. I have now got a seperate license of authorization and banner for providing certification of my students for beautician training. I have around 35-40 students under me who are learning this course currently. I started from Sundaram and am still associated with Sundaram and I am really grateful for the impact they have in my career. I would also like to urge to women to create their own identity. Today I got my hand held my Durgapur Sundaram and now I am doing fine with my work. This platform is open for all women, I would like to tell everyone to come and get benefitted from this place, so that you can become self dependant and need not wait for anyone else to do any favor to you.
Durgapur Steel Plant set up in late fifties is a leading producer of long products &only producer of Forged Railway Wheels & Axles in the country. Plant started production with an initial crude steel capacity of 1 MPTA (million ton per annum) in 1959, which has been progressively increased to 1.8 MTPA during the modernization in nineties and further to 2.2 MTPA during recently completed Modernization & Expansion Plan (MEP). The present Plant capacity is given below.
The Indian Iron & Steel Company (IISCO), a SAIL subsidiary, was amalgamated with SAIL on 16th February 2006 and renamed IISCO Steel Plant (ISP). This full-fledged integrated steel plant is one of India’s oldest. Established as an industrial enterprise in 1918, IISCO produced iron from an open-top blast furnace at Hirapur (later to be called Burnpur) in West Bengal for the first time in 1922. The plant was progressively upgraded to a capacity for production of 4.26 lakh tonnes of saleable steel and 2.54 lakh tonnes of pig iron annually. The plant manufactures a range of products, over some of which it holds exclusive market dominance. Iron & steel produced by it has been acknowledged as being of the finest quality. After undergoing a modernisation-cum-expansion programme, the crude steel capacity of the plant has been raised to 2.5 million tons per year.
SAIL Collieries Division has three operational mines namely Chasnalla Colliery, Jitpur Colliery and Ramnagore Colliery and few upcoming projects namely Rasta opencast project and Begunia project. Among the three operating mines, Chasnalla and Jitpur are located in Jharia coal field, Dhanbad, Jharkhand and produce coking coal while Ramnagore Colliery is located in Raniganj coalfield in the state of West Bengal which produces non-coking coal. There is a Coal Preparation Plant (Coal Washery) for preparation of coal to be used for come making at our Steel Plants.

Growth Division is a unit of SAIL. SAIL Growth Works, Kulti, located in Paschim Barddhaman district in the state of West Bengal is the manufacturing unit functioning under the administrative control of Growth Division.SAIL Growth Works (SGW), Kulti functions as a unit for manufacture and supply of various spare parts and equipment to the SAIL plants by utilizing available in-house facilities. SGW, Kulti presently manufactures Non-Ferrous and Steel castings, Structural Fabrications, Conveyor Idlers and various spares and equipment required by SAIL steel plants.
Eastern Coalfields Limited is a coal producer based in India. The company was founded in 1975 after nationalisation of coal mines in India. It operates coal mines in Jharkhand and West Bengal states of India. It inherited all the private sector coal mines of the Raniganj Coalfield.
DVC emerged as a culmination of attempts made over a whole century to control the wild and erratic Damodar River. The valley has been ravaged frequently by floods at varying intensities. Serious floods occurred in 1730, 1823, 1848, 1856, 1882, 1898, 1901, 1916, 1923, 1935 & 1943.The river spans over an area of 25,000 sq. kms covering the states of Bihar (now Jharkhand) & West Bengal. The catastrophe caused by the1943 flood, led to serious public indignation against the Government. As a result, the Government of Bengal appointed a board of Enquiry titled “Damodar Flood Enquiry Committee” with the Maharaja of Burdwan and the noted physicist Dr. Meghnad Saha as members for suggesting remedial measures. Dr. B.R.Ambedkar, as a member of Cabinet of pre-independence, played a pivotal role in the coordinated efforts for development of the Damodar basin by the Central Government. He pursued relentlessly for the development proposal for Damodar Valley.
